Plant Engineer – Workshop Supervisor

About the role

We are seeking a Plant Engineer to lead our workshop team in Stroud. The role combines hands‑on work on heavy construction plant with supervision of junior engineers, ensuring equipment reliability both in the workshop and on site.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair heavy plant equipment such as excavators, cranes, dumpers and rollers.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and carry out preventative maintenance.
• Inspect plant assets in the workshop and on construction sites.
• Oversee a small team of junior engineers, providing guidance and support.
• Work Monday‑to‑Friday with the possibility of 1.5× overtime.

Required profile

• Qualified Plant Engineer or equivalent with experience on heavy plant equipment.
• Proven ability to lead or supervise a workshop team.
• Willingness to travel to and work in Stroud and surrounding areas.

Required skills

• Excavator, crane, dumper and roller operation and maintenance.
• JCB and Caterpillar equipment servicing.
• Mechanical fault finding.
• Electrical fault finding.
• Hydraulic system maintenance.
