Plant Fitter / Plant Mechanic – £33k‑£40k (DOE)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Plant Fitter/Mechanic to join our busy workshop supporting one of the UK’s largest independent equipment hire companies. You will service, maintain and repair a wide variety of construction plant, ensuring each machine is safe, reliable and ready for hire.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing, fault diagnosis and repairs on excavators, dumpers, rollers, compressors, pressure washers and other hire equipment.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Diagnose mechanical failures quickly to minimise equipment downtime.
• Collaborate with the workshop team while also working independently on assigned tasks.

Required profile

• Proven mechanical experience with plant, HGV, agricultural or automotive machinery.
• Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic abilities.
• Hands‑on, proactive approach and ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team.
