Plant Manager – Anaerobic Digestion

About the role

The AD Plant Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the anaerobic digestion facility, ensuring maximum plant availability, biogas production, feedstock throughput and digestate quality.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operation of the AD facility, including feedstock reception, digestion and digestate production.
• Maximise plant uptime, biogas and biomethane output while meeting all process KPIs.
• Lead operational teams, manage budgets, and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with environmental permits, health & safety legislation and company policies.
• Oversee maintenance programmes, contractor performance and asset reliability.

Required profile

• Significant operational management experience in anaerobic digestion, waste management, recycling, utilities or process manufacturing.
• Strong commercial awareness and practical problem‑solving ability.
• Full UK driving licence.

Required skills

• Knowledge of biological treatment and AD processes.
• Understanding of Environmental Permits, ABPR and EA regulations.
• Budget management and experience leading operational teams.
• Familiarity with CMMS systems.
