Plant Supervisor

About the role

Veolia is seeking a Plant Supervisor for its Household Recycling Centre in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham. You will lead daily operations of the ash and mobile plant, ensuring safety, efficiency and compliance with environmental permits while contributing to a sustainable future.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce safety compliance by wearing PPE, conducting vehicle checks and stopping unsafe activities.
• Motivate and manage plant operatives, ensuring correct PPE use and clear radio communication.
• Plan and deliver daily operations, including staffing, resource allocation and coordination of deliveries/collections.
• Manage IBA stockpiles safely, controlling height, gradient and moisture for optimal processing.
• Monitor output specifications, environmental controls (lagoon levels, dust suppression) and ensure compliance with Veolia permits.
• Drive operational efficiencies using data, maintenance systems and collaboration with other Veolia units.
• Conduct site inspections, report safety or contamination concerns and maximise non‑ferrous metal recovery.

Required profile

• Proven experience in an operational plant environment.
• Team‑leadership experience with the ability to motivate operational staff.
• Relevant yellow plant ticket or licence (desirable).
• IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
