Plant Support Engineer Placement – 13 months (Stevenage)

About the role

The Plant Support Engineer placement is based in Stevenage and supports the Industrial Management team in delivering operational excellence across Airbus sites. You will contribute to improvement plans, cost reduction, KPI visualisation and Lean projects within the Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Test (MAIT) environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support the definition and delivery of a 12‑month improvement plan for the Stevenage site.
• Review and reduce the MAIT cost base and Ready for Bid price through improvement opportunities.
• Develop production dashboards and KPI visualisation to enhance industrial efficiency.
• Implement and mature the Operational Excellence System (OES) and deliver Lean improvement projects (5S, visual management, VSM, flow analysis, KPIs).
• Lead problem‑solving activities, streamline processes and report project status, cost and schedule.

Required profile

• Undergraduate studying Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical/Radio Frequency Engineering, Project Management or Health & Safety.
• Understanding of Practical Problem Solving (PPS), Kaizen workshops and visual management.
• Experience in improvement projects and a proactive, creative mindset.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across multiple sites.
