Plater/Welder – Ship Repair Services (Gravesend)

About the role

Cory is a leading UK resource‑management, recycling and energy‑recovery company that uses the River Thames as a green highway. As a Plater/Welder you will play a hands‑on role in maintaining and repairing the vessels that keep London’s waste moving by river.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate steel barge and vessel sections and carry out emergency repairs and salvage work.
• Support yard activities, including vessel movements in and out of slipways and general site upkeep.
• Work on‑site at Gravesend and occasionally at the Charlton location.
• Ensure compliance with international, national and company legislation and participate in emergency exercises.

Required profile

• Solid hot‑works experience, including welding, fabrication and burning.
• Comfortable operating heavy machinery and engineering equipment.
• Ability to translate technical drawings into practical solutions.
• Understanding of working at height and confined or enclosed space environments.
• Strong commitment to safe working practices and personal responsibility for safety.
• Team‑oriented, flexible and able to adapt working hours to operational demands.
