Platform Performance Engineer – London

About the role

Join a leading quant‑driven market‑making firm as a Platform Performance Engineer, focusing on both cloud‑based and co‑located trading systems to optimise throughput and latency.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and improve performance of cloud‑hosted trading workloads.
• Drive cost‑efficiency of existing trading deployments.
• Implement hardware‑specific instrumentation and coordinate A/B performance experiments on‑prem.
• Adapt AWS‑based deployments to additional cloud providers such as GCP.
• Integrate AWS provisioning into the trading team’s inventory management system.
• Collaborate with trading application teams to ensure platform reliability and speed.

Required profile

• Passionate about impact‑oriented performance engineering, especially in cloud environments.
• Familiarity with standard Linux tooling, particularly network diagnostics.
• Deep knowledge of, or willingness to acquire, protocols such as TCP, WebSockets, HTTP, TLS and FIX.
• Comfortable programming in a statically typed language (e.g., C++, Go, Rust, Java).
• Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools, notably Terraform.
• Not a fresh graduate; proven professional experience required.
