Playworker – Youth & Play Service

About the role
Join Southwark Council's Youth & Play Service as a Playworker and help deliver inclusive, high‑quality activities for young people across the borough. You will work in youth centres and community spaces, supporting the planning and delivery of programmes that build confidence, skills and positive relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Design and facilitate engaging activities for young people aged 11‑19 (up to 25 with SEN).
- Support the planning, organisation and delivery of programmes in youth centres and adventure playgrounds.
- Ensure all services are safe, accessible and responsive to the needs of participants.
- Work both independently and collaboratively within a wider team.
- Maintain safeguarding standards and promote inclusion and equality.
- Participate in regular supervision and professional development sessions.
Required profile
- Enthusiastic and committed to working with young people.
- Experience in community, youth work or play settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with young people.
- Commitment to inclusion, equality and safeguarding.
- Flexible, proactive and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications in youth work, play work, childcare or related fields (desirable).
