PMO Senior Consultant (Program Management Office)

About the role

The PMO Senior Consultant will act as the coordination hub for multiple client engagements within a fast‑growing SME operating in Defence, IT and Cyber. You will ensure projects are aligned, resources are optimally allocated, and delivery standards are consistently met while supporting the development of junior consultants.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a single view of all active engagements, aligning timelines, milestones and deliverables.
• Allocate consultants across concurrent projects, balancing utilisation and adjusting assignments as priorities shift.
• Synchronise inter‑dependent workstreams, manage hand‑offs and ensure continuity.
• Provide governance templates and tools, applying PMI‑informed practices where appropriate.
• Deliver centralised reporting on progress, risks, utilisation and financial performance.
• Identify and resolve cross‑project risks, issues and dependencies.
• Support client delivery assurance and intervene early on at‑risk engagements.
• Track budgets, cash‑flow rates, margins and commercial risks.
• Promote knowledge sharing, asset reuse and lessons learned across projects.
• Embed project‑management best practices and provide training on planning, stakeholder management and risk handling.
• Provide line‑management for junior consultants, setting objectives, monitoring performance and supporting career development.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a PMO or senior project‑management role within IT, Defence or Cyber environments.
• Strong ability to coordinate multiple projects, manage resources and drive delivery alignment.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a pragmatic approach to risk and issue resolution.
• Experience in line‑management, coaching and developing junior consultants.
