Police Staff Investigator (PIP2) – Operation Warden

About the role

This position supports Operation Warden, a high‑profile initiative investigating antisemitic and other priority hate‑crime offences in Greater Manchester. As a PIP2‑accredited Police Staff Investigator you will manage complex, sensitive investigations and work closely with specialist policing teams and partner agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end investigations into hate‑crime offences to PIP2 standard.
• Engage with victims and witnesses, ensuring safeguarding and support.
• Gather, assess and develop evidential material, including digital and forensic evidence.
• Build high‑quality case files and collaborate with the Crown Prosecution Service.
• Conduct interviews following best practice and investigative frameworks.
• Work alongside Neighbourhood Policing Teams, Investigation Teams and Warden teams for a consistent approach.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with disclosure and criminal‑justice requirements.
• Contribute to intelligence‑led policing and support proactive investigations.

Required profile

• PIP2 accreditation (essential).
• Proven experience managing serious and complex investigations.
• Strong knowledge of criminal‑justice procedures and case‑file preparation.
• Experience working with vulnerable victims and sensitive case types.
• Ability to handle high workload volumes in a fast‑paced operational environment.

Required skills

• Digital/telecommunications evidence gathering (desirable).

What we offer

• Initial 12‑month fixed‑term contract with the possibility of extension.
• Hourly rate of £20.84 plus holiday and benefits via Reed PAYE (umbrella rates also available).
• Office‑based role in Ashton‑under‑Lyne, North West England.
