Postal Delivery Driver – Part‑time Fixed‑term (Rochdale)

About the role

Join Royal Mail as a Postal Delivery Driver in Rochdale, delivering letters and parcels to homes and businesses across the local area. The role is a 9‑month fixed‑term contract, part‑time (30 hours per week) with a rotating shift pattern that includes weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Sort incoming letters and parcels at the Rochdale Delivery Office.
• Deliver mail by van and on foot, covering up to 12 miles (20,000+ steps) per shift.
• Build relationships with customers and represent the Royal Mail brand.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions and adapt routes to demand.
• Handle high volumes of parcels during peak periods while meeting strict delivery times.

Required profile

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum six penalty points) registered to your current name and address.
• Ability to pass a Royal Mail driving assessment and operate a company van daily.
• Physically fit – comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs or hills, and lifting/ carrying mailbags of 10 kg or more.
• Reliable, self‑motivated and able to work independently.
• Strong organisational skills and resilience in a fast‑paced environment.
