Postdoctoral Research Associate in Porphyrin Nanobelt Chemistry

About the role
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Oxford invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate focused on Porphyrin Nanobelt Chemistry. Working under Professor Harry L. Anderson, the successful candidate will join a European Research Council‑funded project that explores the synthesis and properties of extended π‑systems.
Key responsibilities
- Design and execute multi‑step organic syntheses of porphyrin nanobelts and related p‑systems.
- Perform physical organic chemistry experiments and spectroscopic characterisation.
- Manage small‑scale project timelines, coordinate laboratory activities and meet research milestones.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and contribute to data analysis.
- Prepare research reports, presentations and assist in manuscript preparation.
Required profile
- PhD in Chemistry (or near completion with thesis submitted before start date).
- Demonstrated experience in multi‑step organic synthesis and handling of extended conjugated systems.
- Background in physical organic chemistry or spectroscopy.
- Ability to work independently and manage own research agenda.
- Commitment to inclusive research environments; candidates from under‑represented groups are especially encouraged.
