Power Generation Engineer (Training Provided)

About the role

The position is based in Harlow and covers landfill sites across the South East. You will be trained to become a Power Generation Engineer, maintaining and servicing heavy‑industrial engines that generate electricity from waste. The role offers a clear pathway into the renewable energy sector for mechanical engineers or mechanics with engine experience.

Key responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair Gensets, gas reciprocating engines and CHP units on multiple landfill sites.
• Carry out preventative, reactive and breakdown maintenance tasks.
• Diagnose faults, record findings and complete service logs.
• Participate in a 1‑in‑5 on‑call rota, compensated at standby and enhanced rates.
• Follow health, safety and environmental procedures while travelling across the South East.

Required profile

• Qualified or experienced Mechanical Engineer or mechanic.
• Background in petrol or diesel engine maintenance, overhauls or repairs.
• Willingness to travel to sites throughout the South East.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a shift‑based team.
