Power Generation Engineer – Training Provided

About the role

This permanent position is based near Yeovil, Taunton or Bridgwater and supports landfill sites across Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. You will be trained to maintain and service power generation equipment, giving you a future‑proof skill set in the renewable energy and waste‑to‑energy sector.

Key responsibilities

• Service and maintain heavy industrial engines, including gas reciprocating and CHP units.
• Carry out preventative, reactive and breakdown maintenance tasks.
• Diagnose faults, record findings and complete log entries.
• Participate in a 1‑in‑5 on‑call rota, paid at standby and enhanced rates.
• Follow health, safety and environmental procedures on all sites.

Required profile

• Qualified or experienced Mechanical Engineer or Mechanic.
• Background in petrol or diesel engine maintenance, overhauls and repairs.
• Experience in heavy plant, agricultural, HGV or military (REME) environments is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel across the South West and work on‑site.
