PR & Communications Officer – Charity Sector

About the role

The Talent Set is partnering with the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity to recruit a PR & Communications Officer. The role supports the charity in raising awareness of its impact on people affected by cancer across the UK and globally. You will craft compelling stories and manage media relations to promote the charity’s work.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver PR content for a range of channels, including press pitches, internal updates, and charity publications.
• Build and maintain relationships with regional media outlets and lead regional outreach initiatives.
• Write regular communications such as quarterly internal updates and supporter e‑newsletters, collaborating with digital teams as needed.
• Support media enquiries and manage reactive media support.
• Assist with drafting content for charity magazines and other publicity materials.
• Participate in ad‑hoc projects and provide general media and communications support.

Required profile

• Proven experience in PR, communications, or media roles with a focus on content writing and media engagement.
• Strong written communication skills and ability to produce clear, engaging content under deadlines.
• Experience working across regional outlets is desirable.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
• Proactive approach with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working collaboratively across teams and supporting various communication activities.
• Enthusiasm for the charity sector and the organisation’s mission.

Required skills

What we offer

• Salary: £31,000‑£33,500 per year.
• Permanent contract.
• Hybrid working – 2 days per week onsite at Sutton or Chelsea site.
