Pre-Construction Manager

About the role

BAM UK & Ireland is looking for an experienced Pre‑Construction Manager to lead and coordinate pre‑construction activities across the Business Unit and wider Sector. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will drive opportunity management, resource planning and bid delivery in line with BAM’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Sector Pre‑Construction Lead and Client Director to align pre‑construction work with the Segment and Sector Operational Plan.
• Develop pre‑construction solutions for emerging opportunities, building a robust pipeline and feeding insights into bid teams.
• Review work‑winning decisions, ensuring strategic alignment and client focus across frameworks and bids.
• Resource each opportunity and bid to deliver profitable, sustainable solutions.
• Support Bid Managers in preparing winning proposals that meet BAM baseline and primary processes.
• Provide technical input to bids, uphold standards and quality of submissions.
• Identify cross‑selling opportunities between sectors and act as Business Unit representative at Segment pre‑construction meetings.
• Engage with estimating teams to incorporate market trends and risk management into budgets.
• Assist Procurement in developing supply‑chain and designer strategies to maximise value.

Required profile

• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related construction/engineering discipline.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary pre‑construction teams and delivering successful bids.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior clients and internal partners.
