Precision Toolmaker / Engineer – High‑Value Component Fitting

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Toolmaker (Precision Engineer) to join a leading specialist facility in Bedford. The role involves precision fitting and assembly of high‑value model components used in world‑leading research projects. You will work on unique parts that require exacting tolerances and contribute to continuous improvement of the fitting process.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out all aspects of precision fitting and assembly of model components and pressure tubing.
• Prepare, finish and inspect parts to exacting tolerances.
• Collaborate with the machining team on EDM, turning, jig boring, grinding and CNC operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements within the fitting section.
• Maintain compliance with security clearance requirements (5 years continuous UK residency).

Required profile

• Time‑served, fully skilled engineer with experience in metal model making or precision fitting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work to strict quality standards.
• Eligibility to meet UK security clearance requirements.
