Premises Manager – Temporary Contract (Education Site)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Premises Manager to take charge of a busy educational site in Merton. This temporary position starts in September 2026 and offers the chance to become permanent based on performance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day maintenance, security and upkeep of the building and grounds.
• Carry out routine inspections, identify maintenance needs and arrange minor repairs.
• Coordinate larger works with external contractors and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Maintain up‑to‑date compliance records, service schedules, risk assessments and statutory documentation.
• Monitor fire safety, water hygiene, asbestos management and emergency lighting.
• Support health and safety audits, inspections and reporting.
• Manage contractor performance, documentation and site procedures.
• Respond to emergencies and operational issues promptly.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Premises, Site or Facilities Manager, caretaker or estates officer.
• Proven ability to handle compliance paperwork, statutory records and contractor documentation.
• Practical building maintenance and repair skills.
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.

Required skills

• Health & Safety qualification (IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent).
• Knowledge of risk assessments, fire safety and safe working practices.
• Good IT skills for maintaining digital records.
