Premises Manager – Temporary Contract (Sept 2026 start)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Premises Manager to oversee the maintenance, safety, security and compliance of a busy educational site in Merton. The role starts in September 2026 on a temporary contract with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day maintenance, security and upkeep of the site and its grounds.
• Carry out routine inspections, identify maintenance needs and perform minor repairs.
• Coordinate larger works with external contractors and ensure compliance with service schedules.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness and security of buildings, ensuring they are fit for purpose.
• Oversee compliance records, risk assessments, fire safety, water hygiene, asbestos management and emergency lighting documentation.
• Support health and safety audits, inspections and reporting.
• Manage contractors, monitor performance and ensure adherence to site procedures and health‑and‑safety requirements.
• Respond to site emergencies and operational issues promptly.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Premises Manager, Site Manager, Facilities Manager, Caretaker or Estates Officer.
• Experience handling compliance paperwork, statutory records and contractor documentation.
• Practical building maintenance and repair skills.
• Health & Safety qualification or training (IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent).
• Knowledge of risk assessments, fire safety and safe working practices.
• Excellent organisational, communication and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• IOSH or NEBOSH health & safety certification.
• Risk assessment and fire safety expertise.
• Digital record‑keeping and IT proficiency.
