Premises Manager – Temporary (Sep 2026)

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Premises Manager to take charge of the day‑to‑day maintenance, safety and security of a busy educational site in Merton, starting September 2026. The role is on a temporary fixed‑term basis with the possibility of becoming permanent, offering the chance to make a tangible impact on a school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily upkeep of buildings, grounds and security systems.
• Carry out routine inspections, identify maintenance needs and perform minor repairs.
• Coordinate larger works with external contractors and monitor their performance.
• Maintain compliance records, service schedules, risk assessments and statutory documentation (fire safety, water hygiene, asbestos, emergency lighting).
• Support health‑and‑safety audits, inspections and reporting.
• Respond to emergencies and operational issues promptly.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Premises, Site or Facilities Manager, Caretaker or Estates Officer.
• Proven ability to manage compliance paperwork and contractor documentation.
• Practical building maintenance and repair skills.
• Health & Safety qualification (IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent).

Required skills

• IOSH / NEBOSH health‑and-safety knowledge.
• Risk assessment and fire‑safety expertise.
• Building maintenance and repair techniques.
• Digital record‑keeping and basic IT proficiency.
