Pricing Data Engineer – Remote Contract

About the role

Sellick Partnership is supporting a leading insurance organisation in need of an experienced Pricing Data Engineer on a three‑month contract. The role focuses on re‑coding, optimising and testing complex SQL data extracts for the pricing team, working remotely with large codebases.

Key responsibilities

• Review and rewrite complex SQL code snippets, including large‑scale codebases.
• Re‑code pricing data extracts to match agreed templates and project timelines.
• Perform end‑to‑end testing, validation and productionisation of data extracts.
• Optimise SQL queries, execution plans and overall performance.
• Support pipeline execution using Azure Data Factory.
• Manage code and delivery activities via Azure DevOps boards and repositories.
• Utilise version‑control tools such as Git.
• Collaborate with pricing stakeholders to ensure data extracts meet business requirements.

Required profile

• Advanced SQL expertise, including dynamic SQL and performance optimisation.
• Strong experience reviewing, rewriting and testing complex SQL code.
• Proficiency with Azure DevOps (boards, repositories) and Azure Data Factory pipelines.
• Hands‑on experience with Git or similar version‑control systems.
• Ability to work independently and deliver quickly in a remote contract environment.
• Previous experience in an insurance setting is highly advantageous.
