Primary school teacher with SEN experience

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Primary Teacher to join a specialist independent school in Melksham. The school supports pupils aged 4‑16 with social, emotional and mental health needs as well as complex medical conditions, delivering a therapeutic, personalised learning experience.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons that address individual learning needs.
• Build trusting relationships with pupils to foster confidence and engagement.
• Adapt teaching strategies to support a range of emotional, behavioural and academic challenges.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists and the multidisciplinary team.
• Monitor progress and contribute to each pupil’s personalised learning plan.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment that promotes wellbeing and resilience.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching in a primary setting.
• Passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Strong behaviour management and relationship‑building abilities.
• Patient, resilient and adaptable approach.
• Previous experience in SEND, SEMH or specialist education is desirable but not essential.
