About the role
We are seeking a compassionate Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant to support children with social, emotional and mental health needs in a highly regarded mainstream primary school in Havering, London. The role starts in September 2026 and runs full‑time until July 2027, with the prospect of a permanent contract from September 2027.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to KS1 and KS2 pupils with SEMH needs.
- Assist teachers in organising and delivering learning resources.
- Implement behaviour‑management strategies to create a safe learning environment.
- Monitor and help raise pupil attainment and wellbeing.
- Collaborate with staff to adapt lessons for individual needs.
Required profile
- Understanding, resilient and empathetic personality.
- Experience working with challenging behaviour or mental‑health issues.
- Enthusiasm for supporting children with additional needs.
- Strong behaviour‑management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with KS1 and KS2 students.
Required skills
What we offer
- Full‑time contract (Monday‑Friday, 8:30‑16:00).
- Daily rate of £95‑£120.
