Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant (Redbridge, London)

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant to support children with social, emotional and mental health needs in a highly regarded primary school in Redbridge, London. The role starts in September 2026 and runs full‑time until July 2027, with the possibility of a permanent contract for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to KS1 and KS2 pupils with SEMH needs.
• Deliver tailored educational activities and help meet individual learning goals.
• Assist in organising teaching and learning resources across the school.
• Collaborate with teachers to implement behaviour management strategies.
• Support students’ personal growth and academic attainment.

Required profile

• Understanding, resilient and empathetic personality.
• Experience working with challenging behaviour and additional needs.
• Positive outlook and enthusiasm for supporting young learners.
• Ability to work effectively with KS1 and KS2 students.
