Primary SEN Teacher – KS1/2 (Temporary)

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Primary SEN Teacher to join a leading special needs school in West London on a temporary, maternity‑cover basis. You will work with a mixed KS1/2 class of eight pupils who have severe learning difficulties, autism and profound multiple disabilities.
Key responsibilities
- Design and deliver a creative, multi‑sensory curriculum tailored to individual pupil needs.
- Plan and implement individualized learning plans using picture symbols (PECS) for pre‑verbal communication.
- Teach a mixed‑ability class grouped by ability rather than age.
- Line‑manage and support a team of three experienced teaching assistants.
- Collaborate with the school’s therapy hub and senior leadership team to ensure best practice.
Required profile
- Proven experience in special education, preferably with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and severe learning difficulties (SLD).
- Ability to work with pre‑verbal pupils and use PECS effectively.
- Strong organisational skills and experience managing teaching assistants.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous training.
