Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (2 positions)

About the role
A primary school in the heart of Preston is hiring two SEN Teaching Assistants for the Reception class. The positions start in September and run for the full academic year, providing dedicated support to young learners with additional needs.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver tailored assistance to Reception pupils with speech and language needs, autism spectrum disorder and challenging behaviour.
- Implement positive behaviour management strategies and support social interaction.
- Collaborate with teachers and SEN professionals to plan and deliver inclusive activities.
- Provide personal care, including intimate care and nappy changing, when required.
Required profile
- Previous experience working with children who have Special Educational Needs, especially ASD and speech & language difficulties.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Proactive, confident and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable undertaking intimate care duties.
- A nurturing, patient and resilient approach.
Required skills
- Knowledge of speech and language development.
- Understanding of autism spectrum disorder.
- Behaviour management techniques.
- Ability to provide safe personal care.
What we offer
- Full‑time hours: 8:45 am – 3:15 pm with a 30‑minute unpaid lunch break.
