Primary SEN Teaching Assistant – Full‑time (Temporary)

About the role

Join a specialist SEMH primary school in West Sussex as a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant. This long‑term supply position starts in September and offers a supportive environment for professionals passionate about inclusive education.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in preparing differentiated lessons and learning materials for pupils with SEMH and autistic spectrum needs.
• Support pupils in small groups and one‑to‑one settings across all curriculum areas, reinforcing behavioural, social and emotional strategies.
• Help pupils develop independence and confidence through personalised learning and therapeutic support.
• Liaise with teachers, care staff and external professionals to ensure a cohesive educational approach.
• Participate in educational visits and contribute to creative, practical activities.
• Carry out basic administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing and classroom displays.

Required profile

• Full‑time availability Monday‑Friday, 08:40–15:55.
• Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or SEMH setting.
• Strong communication, teamwork and a calm, patient approach to behaviour management.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Required skills

• Good ICT skills and ability to support learning with technology.
