Primary SEN Teaching Assistant – Islington

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a popular mainstream primary school in Islington (N5). The role supports pupils with special educational needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and emotional‑behavioural difficulties (EBD), and works closely with the senior leadership team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for SEN pupils in Key Stage 1 and 2.
• Assist the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and delivery, ensuring adaptations meet individual needs.
• Implement safeguarding procedures and maintain up‑to‑date safeguarding training.
• Collaborate with staff to promote inclusive behaviour management strategies.
• Record progress and communicate effectively with parents and external professionals.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience in UK Key Stage 1 or 2 settings.
• Current safeguarding training completed within the last year.
• Experience working with pupils with ASD and EBD.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS with online update service or willingness to obtain one.
• Two professional child‑related references covering the last two years.
