About the role
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Bristol. The role focuses on supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, helping them access the curriculum and develop confidence.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with special educational needs.
- Assist pupils in accessing learning materials and achieving individual targets.
- Promote social, emotional and behavioural development, encouraging independence.
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning and support plans.
Required profile
- Previous experience working in a primary school environment.
- Demonstrated experience supporting children with SEND.
- Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check on the update service.
- References covering the last 24 months.
Required skills
- Patience and flexibility when working with children who have complex needs.
- Strong behaviour‑management abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork with teachers and support staff.
