Primary Teaching Assistant – Cheshire

About the role

Academics is seeking experienced Primary Teaching Assistants for short‑term and long‑term assignments across partnership schools in Cheshire, North West England. You will support teachers and learners in a dynamic classroom environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support the teacher with lesson delivery.
• Prepare the classroom, set up equipment and resources.
• Manage behaviour and engage learners.
• Work with pupils individually or in small groups.
• Assist both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 learners.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children in a primary school or similar UK educational setting.
• Strong communication and motivation skills.
• Effective behaviour management for KS1 and KS2.
• Willingness to travel and arrive by 8:30 am, often with short‑notice assignments.
• GCSE English and Maths Grade 4/C (or Functional Skills Level 2) or higher.
• Familiarity with the UK National Curriculum.
• Current Enhanced DBS with Update Service, or ability to obtain one (cost applies).
