Primary Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Bolton. The role starts in September and offers a long‑term temporary, full‑time placement supporting pupils with additional learning needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.
• Assist pupils with emotional regulation, routines and positive behaviour strategies.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school staff to deliver tailored support.
• Encourage confidence, independence and engagement in lessons.
• Support the social, emotional and academic development of individual pupils.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a childcare or school setting.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs and challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Genuine passion for education and supporting vulnerable learners.
