Principal Commercial Officer – Defence & Technology

About the role

Ackodis is seeking a Principal Commercial Officer to join its defence and technology team in Stevenage. The role is hybrid and offers a competitive salary of £50,000 plus benefits. You will be a key member of a collaborative commercial team, overseeing contracts from bid to delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and negotiate commercial proposals and contracts.
• Manage commercial activities throughout the contract lifecycle, from award to closure.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities and support mitigation strategies.
• Act as the commercial point of contact for internal stakeholders and customers.
• Provide commercial guidance to project teams across multiple programmes.
• Assist with change management and contractual amendments.
• Participate in customer meetings, programme reviews and commercial discussions.
• Support business‑winning activities and new contract opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with company processes and governance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of commercial processes.

Required profile

• Experience managing or supporting commercial contracts in a complex environment.
• Strong understanding of contract negotiation and commercial management principles.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to identify and manage commercial risk.
• Experience working within project, programme or bid environments.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Comfortable collaborating with senior stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
