Principal Consultant Analyst – Defence & Government

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Consultant Analyst to lead defence‑focused operational and data analysis for a fast‑growing consultancy. Working from our Winchester office in a hybrid model, you will partner with senior stakeholders across the UK Ministry of Defence, Dstl and related agencies to deliver high‑impact insights.

Key responsibilities

• Apply operational analysis techniques to solve complex defence and government challenges.
• Gather requirements, design processes and produce analytical deliverables for senior clients.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of analysts, SMEs and software developers.
• Present findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Contribute to the development of the company’s data‑science capability, including prototype models and dashboards.

Required profile

• Strong background in UK defence (MoD, Dstl, Defence Digital, DE&S or frontline commands).
• Proven experience in operational or data analysis within a government or security context.
• Self‑starter with excellent communication, stakeholder‑engagement and organisational skills.
• Degree or MSc in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel, including VBA.
• Python programming for data manipulation and modelling.
• Microsoft 365 suite, SharePoint, Power BI, Dataverse and Power Apps.
