About the role
As a Principal Consultant in our Strategy and Transformation team, you will be client‑focused, leading, project managing and supporting projects that enable organisations to develop and implement sustainability strategies. You will bring deep sustainability expertise across multiple topics and be able to translate strategic vision into concrete transformation programmes.
Key responsibilities
- Project Management – deliver consulting engagements on time, on budget and to high quality standards.
- Deliverable Drafting & Presentation – produce high‑quality reports, presentations and workshops aligned with project scope.
- Expert input and QA – review work, provide expert viewpoints and ensure quality assurance of deliverables.
- Client Relationship Building – earn client trust and represent their interests effectively within organisations.
- Service Development – contribute to strategy and transformation service offerings, create templates and provide internal expertise.
- Key Account Development – support deeper, longer‑term partnerships with high‑impact clients.
- Proposal / Bid Writing – design, price and present project proposals with guidance from colleagues.
- Line Management – mentor junior colleagues and support their performance growth.
Required profile
- 6+ years experience in strategy/ transformation consulting at a leading management or sustainability consultancy, or 7+ years in‑house experience where strategy development was core.
- Fluency across multiple sustainability topics (e.g., climate, circularity) with expertise in specific areas.
- Operating model design and large‑programme implementation experience.
- Proven ability to apply best‑practice strategy, transformation frameworks and change‑management approaches.
- Experience in sustainability governance and progress management (desirable).
- Strong commercial acumen – understand data sets, develop financial models and build sustainability‑linked business cases.
- Confidence engaging Board‑level stakeholders, including CFOs and financial professionals.
- Extensive sustainability network in the UK/EMEA and a track record of building pipelines and growing accounts.
