Principal DevOps Engineer (SC Cleared)

About the role

We are seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer with Security Check (SC) clearance to join a leading consultancy delivering innovative solutions for public sector and defence clients. The role is based in Leeds with a hybrid working model, offering the chance to influence high‑impact, mission‑critical projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain cloud‑native platforms on AWS using Infrastructure as Code.
• Lead the development and operation of CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
• Support and optimise production Linux environments (RHEL/CentOS).
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable solutions for defence and national security projects.

Required profile

• Active SC clearance or eligibility.
• Based in Leeds or able to travel to the office regularly.
• Proven experience in senior or principal DevOps / platform engineering roles.

Required skills

• Strong Linux expertise (RHEL/CentOS).
• Version control with Git, GitHub or GitLab.
• AWS cloud services and Terraform for IaC.
• Kubernetes and Docker container technologies.
• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo.
• Understanding of microservices, cloud‑native architecture and automation (Ansible).
