Principal Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

Our client, a well‑established building services consultancy in Manchester, is looking for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design of electrical systems across a diverse portfolio of building projects. The role offers a clear pathway to Chartered Engineer status and the chance to work on innovative, sustainable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical building services for a range of sectors, ensuring compliance with current regulations and standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, contractors and clients, to deliver projects from concept to completion.
• Produce detailed technical drawings, specifications and calculations using Revit, AutoCAD and related tools.
• Conduct technical analysis, prepare reports and present findings at client and stakeholder meetings.
• Mentor and support junior engineers as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical building services engineering.
• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong ambition to progress towards Chartered Engineer status.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Revit.
• Proficiency in Dialux.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam.
