Principal Engineer – Major Projects Mechanical Lead

About the role

We are seeking a Major Projects Mechanical Lead to join our Building Services Design team in Salford. The role will drive mechanical design excellence for large, complex construction projects, ensuring sustainable, compliant and cost‑effective solutions from concept through construction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Mechanical team in delivering design for major new‑build projects, coordinating with the Electrical Lead and other disciplines.
• Manage team utilisation, set quality standards, and oversee feasibility studies, multi‑stage designs and condition reports.
• Maintain CPD programmes, communicate progress, cost and risk to management, and support business development activities.
• Provide high‑level technical advice, produce budget costs and pre‑tender estimates, and ensure coordinated design delivery to project completion.

Required profile

• Chartered Engineer and member of CIBSE or IET with a degree in Mechanical Building Services or Electrical Engineering.
• Significant knowledge of the Mechanical, Electrical & Technology industry and ability to pass BPSS security checks.
