Principal Engineer – Nuclear Engineering

About the role

Tetra Tech is looking for an experienced Principal Engineer to join its growing nuclear engineering team. The role blends hands‑on technical delivery with increasing leadership responsibility, allowing you to work on nationally significant nuclear projects while progressing toward Chartered Engineer status.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality engineering design and analysis across nuclear projects from concept to detailed design and implementation.
• Own defined technical work packages, ensuring quality, coordination and delivery within programme expectations.
• Collaborate with project managers to support programme delivery, manage technical risks and ensure compliance with nuclear, industry and statutory requirements.
• Contribute to safety cases, design justification and regulatory compliance documentation.
• Provide technical oversight, mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
• Promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within multidisciplinary project teams.

Required profile

• Significant experience in nuclear or related engineering disciplines.
• Proven ability to lead technical packages and work in highly regulated environments.
• Strong judgment for safety, quality and compliance matters.
• Experience mentoring junior staff and fostering team capability.
