Principal Mechanical Engineer – MEP Team Leader

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead our MEP design team for a major main contractor. Based in Liverpool, Manchester or Leeds, you will drive the delivery of complex mechanical and electrical building services projects across public and private sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of high‑quality M&E solutions for new builds, refurbishments and minor works.
• Manage and develop the MEP design team, ensuring performance aligns with project workloads.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design efforts, maintaining programme, budget, quality and safety standards.
• Oversee technical outputs including feasibility studies, multi‑stage designs, specifications and condition reports.
• Maintain engineering standards, QA procedures, document control and Health & Safety policies.

Required profile

• Chartered Engineer, member of CIBSE or IET.
• Proven experience as a Design Team Leader in MEP projects.
• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Building Services Design Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience across both public and private sector projects.
