Principal Property Locum

About the role

This is a three‑month locum contract for a Principal Property Lawyer, with strong potential for extension. You will join a busy legal team serving Manchester, Salford and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, providing expert advice on high‑profile commercial property matters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of complex commercial property matters.
• Advise on development agreements for major regeneration schemes.
• Draft, negotiate and finalise building leases and related documentation.
• Handle residential and commercial development transactions from instruction to completion.
• Provide expert advice on complex landlord‑tenant issues.
• Deliver commercially focused legal advice to senior officers and stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with internal departments, external counsel and partner organisations.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and governance procedures.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with significant post‑qualification experience.
• Extensive experience in commercial property law, including development agreements and regeneration projects.
• Proven ability to draft and negotiate building leases.
• Strong background in residential and commercial development matters.
• Excellent understanding of complex landlord‑tenant law.
• Previous local authority or public‑sector experience is highly desirable.
