Principal SRE Engineer / Grafana Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Principal SRE Engineer with deep expertise in Grafana and observability to join a FTSE100 wealth and asset management client on a 3‑6 month contract. The role is largely remote with occasional travel to the Bristol/London headquarters and will drive the implementation of a new observability platform across digital services.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the observability roadmap aligned with business and digital platform goals.
• Establish SLIs, SLOs, error budgets and capacity planning using real‑time telemetry.
• Design runbooks and standards for metrics, logs, traces, synthetics and customer‑journey monitoring.
• Guide engineering teams in implementing synthetic monitoring, distributed tracing, and cloud‑native monitoring patterns.
• Promote a data‑driven culture and ensure governance of observability practices across teams.

Required profile

• 10+ years of engineering experience with at least 5 years in SRE, Observability or DevOps.
• Proven ability to lead technical strategy and influence cross‑functional teams.
• Strong understanding of micro‑services, container orchestration and cloud‑native architectures.
