Principal Technical Lead – Maldon

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Technical Lead for Maldon District Council, working on a full‑time basis with a hybrid schedule – two days on site and three days remote. The role offers a competitive rate of £27.29 per hour (approximately £53,200 per annum) and 28 days of holiday.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day management, workflow and prioritisation of Technical Support and Validation Officers.
• Act as the escalation point for complex or sensitive customer and internal enquiries.
• Drive service improvement, consistency and resilience across Development Management processes.
• Support staff development, performance management and training.

Required profile

• Strong experience in Development Management and/or Building Control environments.
• Confidence managing workflows, priorities and competing demands.
• Ability to support and develop others through coaching, guidance and clear communication.
• Experience contributing to business or process improvement initiatives.
• Customer‑focused approach with confidence to handle complex or contentious enquiries.
