Principal Test & Testability Engineer

About the role

Join a leading engineering organisation at the forefront of advanced defence technology as a Principal Test & Testability Engineer. You will provide strategic technical leadership, shaping test strategies and ensuring robust verification for complex electronic and electro‑mechanical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Define and lead project‑level test and testability strategies.
• Establish robust test architectures for complex electronic systems.
• Drive Design for Test (DfT) and testability best practices throughout the product lifecycle.
• Develop requirements and specifications for test equipment and diagnostic solutions.
• Analyse production and test data to identify trends, root causes and improvement opportunities.
• Lead failure investigations and technical problem‑solving activities.
• Model and analyse system behaviour to assess test coverage and diagnostic effectiveness.
• Support design reviews, technical assessments and risk‑reduction activities.
• Mentor and develop engineers within multidisciplinary teams.
• Contribute to technology roadmaps, innovation initiatives and bid proposals.

Required profile

• Significant experience in test engineering for complex electronic/electro‑mechanical systems.
• Proven ability to provide technical leadership and influence engineering direction.
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Strong analytical mindset with a track record of successful failure investigations.
