Principal Traffic Engineer (Hybrid, £400/day)

About the role

The Principal Traffic Engineer will lead a technical team delivering traffic and parking engineering solutions for the council. This hybrid role combines remote work with regular office presence to manage projects, budgets and contracts while ensuring compliance with local policies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, investigation and delivery of traffic and parking engineering measures and schemes.
• Manage project budgets, contracts and timelines.
• Ensure all work complies with council policies and procedures.
• Support the Transport and Projects Manager in organising technical staff and administering the service.
• Represent the service externally and deputise for the manager when required.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading technical engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of traffic and parking engineering principles.
• Experience in budget, contract and project management within a public sector context.
