Private Client Legal Secretary

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Private Client Legal Secretary to provide dedicated support to a partner within our busy private client department. The role is office‑based in the heart of Godalming and offers the chance to work alongside three senior solicitors and a newly qualified solicitor.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive secretarial support to a partner and occasional assistance to other fee earners.
• Accurately transcribe audio recordings, ensuring flawless grammar and spelling.
• Handle inbound telephone enquiries and greet visitors professionally.
• Maintain a polished and professional appearance at all times.
• Adapt quickly to new IT systems and office procedures.
• Cover reception duties during breaks, holidays or staff absences.
• Proactively manage tasks and respond swiftly to the team’s needs.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a legal secretary, preferably in a private client setting.
• Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills.
• Professional demeanour with a friendly, "can‑do" attitude.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a small office environment.

Required skills

• Audio typing with a strong command of grammar and spelling.
