Private Client Solicitor – High Net Worth & Rural Clients

About the role
This position leads the Private Wealth department for the Swindon and Marlborough area, providing specialist advice to high‑net‑worth individuals, farming families and business owners. You will work alongside recognised experts on succession, estate planning and trust matters.
Key responsibilities
- Advise high‑net‑worth and ultra‑high‑net‑worth clients on estate and succession planning.
- Support farming families and business owners with wealth preservation and generational succession strategies.
- Manage administration of complex estates, including agricultural and business assets.
- Establish, administer and restructure trusts.
- Provide inheritance tax mitigation and lifetime gifting advice.
- Draft wills and lasting powers of attorney.
- Handle Court of Protection matters.
- Liaise with HMRC, accountants and professional valuers on tax and estate issues.
- Assist business development initiatives and maintain key referrer relationships.
- Supervise and mentor junior team members where appropriate.
Required profile
- Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive.
- Approximately 6 years post‑qualification experience in Private Client law.
- Strong technical knowledge of estate administration, tax planning and succession matters.
- Experience advising high‑net‑worth clients; exposure to agricultural or landed‑estate work is advantageous.
- STEP qualification beneficial but not essential.
- Excellent communication and client‑relationship skills.
