Private Client Solicitor

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, client‑focused Private Client Solicitor to join our growing team in Chelmsford. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of private client matters, providing practical, commercially aware advice to individuals, families, business owners and high‑net‑worth clients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a broad caseload of private client matters from instruction through to completion.
• Advise clients on wills, estate planning, lasting powers of attorney, probate, trust creation and taxation, inheritance tax planning and succession for family businesses.
• Draft and review legal documentation such as wills, trusts, deeds and powers of attorney.
• Administer estates, obtain Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration, and liaise with executors, beneficiaries and professional advisers.
• Maintain accurate records, ensure regulatory compliance and deliver exceptional client care.
• Identify cross‑referral opportunities, support business development and mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
• Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience in Private Client law (flexible depending on experience).
• Proven ability to handle a broad range of private client matters independently.
• Strong knowledge of wills, probate, trusts, taxation and lasting powers of attorney.
• Excellent drafting, communication and organisational skills with high attention to detail.
