Private Client Tax Manager – Trusts & Estates

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Private Client Tax Manager with a strong focus on trusts and estates to join a leading private client tax team in the City of London. The role combines client advisory work, technical tax delivery and leadership of junior staff, while offering a hybrid working model.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of trusts, estates and high‑net‑worth individuals.
• Serve as the primary contact for trustees, executors, beneficiaries and advisers.
• Lead the preparation of trust and estate tax advice, reports and tax returns.
• Advise on Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and Inheritance Tax (IHT) planning, including lifetime transfers.
• Oversee trust accounts, ensure compliance with trust and IHT regulations.
• Handle HMRC enquiries and settlements.
• Monitor work‑in‑progress, billing and delivery against deadlines.
• Support partners with business development and mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• CTA and/or STEP qualified, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive knowledge of UK trusts and estates taxation.
• Proven experience with CGT, IHT and anti‑avoidance rules.
• Demonstrated ability to manage HMRC enquiries.
• Strong advisory and technical writing skills.
• Experience in people management and coaching.
• Commercially aware and client‑focused.
