Private Rented Sector Visiting Officer

About the role

Southwark Council is seeking a Private Rented Sector Visiting Officer to join its Housing Needs and Support service on an 18‑month fixed‑term contract. You will work directly with residents and landlords across the borough, identifying risks early and delivering practical support to prevent homelessness and improve housing conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out visits to tenants and properties to identify tenancy risks and housing concerns.
• Provide practical housing advice and support to help residents sustain their homes.
• Work collaboratively with landlords and tenants to resolve issues and improve communication.
• Assess housing conditions, flag potential hazards, and recommend early‑intervention actions.
• Maintain accurate records of visits, assessments, and outcomes.
