Private Sector Housing Manager

About the role

VOX Consultants are seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Manager to lead a high‑performing team within a West London Local Authority. The role focuses on improving housing conditions in the private rented and owner‑occupied sectors through advice, assistance and enforcement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Private Sector Housing service, ensuring a resident‑focused, efficient delivery.
• Oversee statutory duties under the Housing Act 2004, including HHSRS enforcement and property licensing.
• Implement the Council’s obligations under the Renters' Rights Act 2025, responding to new regulatory requirements.
• Monitor performance, produce detailed reports for senior officers and elected members, and manage complex housing cases.
• Develop relationships with residents, landlords, elected members and partner organisations.
• Drive continuous improvement to meet performance targets and statutory obligations.

Required profile

• Significant experience managing a Private Sector Housing or Environmental Health service in a Local Authority.
• Deep knowledge of the Housing Act 2004, HHSRS, property licensing and the Renters' Rights Act 2025.
• Proven ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and report‑writing skills.
